3G vs. Edge, 16 gig etc… Apple sucks

What do you think?
Went to an Apple store in December said to the guy, “should I wait 6 monts to buy an iPhone cause it will probably be better then?”

aswer: “no way anything is changing with the hardware, only thing that will happen is that it will be open to developers and there will be a ton more software for it but that won’t matter because you can download it. Hardware won’t change.”

I get an iPhone in January. Now it looks like they will have a 3g phone out soon allowing you to actually use the internet, and you can now get a 16gig phone.

I’m stuck with this one and can’t return or exchange it.

I’m selling it on ebay and will never get an Apple product of any sort ever again.

Am I overlooking something?

Technology is always like that. We can’t avoid it. Look at recent format war for future entertainment.

DVD has just become the standard not to long ago, and now Sony/Toshiba is trying to force us into the next phase already.

Apple is also known for stuff like this. I bought an iMac in Feb last year, then like 6 months later, they unveil the new iMac with faster processor, more ram, more hard drive, for $500 cheaper than what I paid. It’s just technology man. Just have to live with it.

Yes, you are overlooking something. Technology changes ALL THE TIME. That’s what you are overlooking. You ever heard the phrase “buyer beware”? Apple employees don’t know what’s coming out next. So, why did you listen to them? If the current model doesn’t allow you to “actually use the internet,” then why did you get it? Sounds like you just want to piss and moan because your timing didn’t work out too well. But, don’t blame Apple. Would you prefer that, once you purchase one of their products, they never release anything better than it? Get a grip.

First why can you not surf the internet?? I bought an iphone in January as well and I can surf just fine. You have to pay $100 more to get the 16G phone. Second why would you want 3g iphone, when your 8g is better.

The iphone is the best smart phone out there to date, so why would you want to return it. When you buy any type of computer equipment, phone, tv …. you can almost bet that there will be an update which is better in some way.

3G is a wireless format that provides faster download speeds somewhere between 384 kbps to 2 megabits per second. Not the storage capacity of the hardware.

You are correct sir. I stand corrected. 3G sounds great. Still why put off a phone for newer technology that may be many months away. Use the iphone now and sell it later when the new stuff comes out.

I am very happy with my iPhone as it is now. It works for me and my usage habits. I saw a video speech by an Apple Exec. were he addressed the question about 3G capability. It was a matter of battery life. With 3G capability they took a real hit with battery life. They felt that until they could guarantee a full days usage(mainly phone usage I suspect) with 3G on it would be impracticable.
